Philosophy Biodynamic Wines

Color: Limpid and brilliant golden yellow.
Smell: To nose it is intense, rich and elegant, with fruity notes (pear, apricot, peach), fresh, buttery, floral, roasting aromas.
Taste: Vigorous, harmonious, structured body, mineral, fruity and salty notes.
Food pairing: With appetizers, fish, shellfish (preferably grilled or roasted), pork and veal, poultry.

In addition to having marked the growing success of the estate in recent decades, Löwengang Chardonnay has made a leap forward in the quality of wine production in all of South Tyrol. In fact, in the 1980s it was the first South Tyrolean white wine to establish itself on international markets. The vineyards of the farm that are located in different microzones in Magrè react, year by year, to different climatic conditions. Our task is to interpret them, combining their grapes and their wines in the best way to obtain a new masterpiece in each vintage.

Cultivation method: Controlled organic-dynamic agriculture, Demeter certified.
Production areas: The best plots belonging to the Löwengang Estate in Magrè.
Altitude: 230-330 meters a.s.l.
Soils: Sandy, gravelly and very calcareous soils.
Age of vines: 21-71 years old.
Harvest: 23rd August-5th September.
Vinification: Spontaneous fermentation of the must in barriques
Aging: On the lees in barriques for about 11 months, then in bottle for one year.
Acidity: 6 g/l.

IN TUNE WITH NATURE By applying the principles of the biological-dynamic method, the Alois Lageder wine estate cultivates 55 hectares of vineyards owned by the family in South Tyrol. The holistic approach is at the basis of all the activity, of the relationships that bind them for many years with the numerous wine-growing partners, and also of their ambition to spread awareness for a more natural and sustainable agriculture. The wines embody the diversity of South Tyrol. With the Classic Vines they want to bring out the variety of the territory. The compositions are born from a union of various components and enhance the differences and peculiarities of the vineyards from which they are born. With the Masterpieces we seek excellence and perfect every aspect of viticulture.
