Soave was one of the first Italian wines to be recognized as "typical and precious", since 1931. Soave Bertani was the image of this wine in the world. With the Soave Vintage we want to
propose Soave in an original but also modern way: a slightly more intense color, a fresh, crunchy wine. Fine and elegant with aromatic notes of ripe fruit,
peach and pear, with plant
sensations reminiscent of sage, mint and elderberry flowers.

Vines and plants

Gargànega 100%. The vines are grown in the Veronese pergola with a density of 3,000 vines per hectare and have an average age of 40 years.

Winemaking
First harvest: Harvest of a part of the grapes, about 40%, in the third decade of September, pressing and traditional fermentation "in white" at 14 ° C.
Second Harvest: Harvest of the remaining part of the grapes at the end of October, after careful selection of the bunches, pressing and fermentation "in red" with the skins at a
temperature of 20 ° C, for
a period of 15 days.

The Aging
Maturation takes place on the yeasts at the end of fermentation in cement tanks covered with glass tiles. This allows a slow and progressive maturation thanks to the constant conditions,
in terms of temperature and micro-oxygenation, of this historic container.

Soave
Almost everywhere recognizable as a gentle and persuasive landscape, where castles, churches, bell towers and aristocratic villas emerge to witness a testimony to both historical and
here I'm. The Soave production area is located in the eastern part of the hilly arch of the province of Verona. From a climatic point of view, the entire area is favored by a mild and temperate
climate with not excessively harsh winters and rather temperate summers. The hilly terrain is generally frank
clayey, rich in minerals and organic substances, with variations, also remarkable,
especially in the Monteforte d’Alpone area. Bertani cultivates Gargànega in the "cru" Sereole, on Monte Tondo, among the
municipalities of Soave and Monteforte d’Alpone, in soils with
moderate depth, clayey, mineral and rich in organic substances, essential for the production of full-bodied white wines but with
an elegant fruity note and surprising longevity. The grapes that
make up Le Lave, Gargànega and Chardonnay are grown in the neighboring vineyards. The soil from which it derives
the name of the wine, of a very dark color, is of lava - basaltic origin which,
during the day, stores the solar heat it gives up at night, favoring an excellent ripening of the grapes.

Bertani

The Bertani winery was founded in 1857 by the brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, in Quinto di Valpantena, north of Verona. Gaetano was already then an expert in the art of making wines, having learned the new techniques in France from Professor Guyot, still considered one of the greatest viticulture experts today. The beginning of the Bertani's business coincides with the innovative spirit that pushes to use the most advanced production techniques, both in the wine and wine field, applied to all the properties of that time, in Valpantena and Soave, always respecting the territory and culture of the area's crops. High professionalism and quality, commercial initiative and innovative spirit, were the traits that immediately distinguished the two brothers in the Veronese panorama. Bertani was among the first companies in Italy to understand the value of bottled wine; great investments were made immediately in the vineyards and in the cellar, to bottle and export Italian quality to the world with Bertani wines, which already before the end of the nineteenth century crossed the Atlantic Ocean to be appreciated in many cities in the United States. Bertani was born with the unification of Italy, with the desire and pride to represent the excellence of a new nation with a millenary culture. This commitment and the quality of its wines earned Bertani, in 1923, the distinctive symbol of achieving excellence: the patent of the real house. Although, now that Italy is a republic, it is a fallen symbol, for us it still represents the achievement of the highest quality. The constant commitment in viticulture and enology pushed the Academy of Agriculture, Arts and Commerce of Verona to signal Bertani, in 1870, as a model farm, thanks to its professionalism, the introduction of specialized vineyards, new breeding systems, which immediately connoted the entrepreneurial spirit of the family. Not only that: the quality of Bertani wines knew since then for its refinement, so much so as to see the Soave present on the menu for the coronation of George VI of England in 1937. In the mid-twentieth century, with the acquisition of Tenuta Novare, in Valpolicella Classica, Bertani completed his half-century-long research to produce the "Wine", the one that was born to last forever. It is here, in fact, that the history of Amarone begins, a wine symbol of the territory from which it was born, whose first vintage dates back to 1958. Bertani today With more than 200 hectares of vineyards in the most suitable areas of Veronese, Bertani is today a solid company with a constant increase in distribution in Europe and worldwide. There are two historic cellars, that of Grezzana, the current headquarters and the beating heart of the company where the winemaking, bottling and shipping activities take place, and Tenuta Novare in Arbizzano di Negrar, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica, cradle of great reds like 'Amarone and Valpolicella Classico Superiore. An icon of Italian wine in the world, Bertani combines the typicality of indigenous vines with the continuous updating of production plants and attention focused on the terroir. Respect for tradition balanced by a particular innovative charge, great entrepreneurial capacity at the service of the highest quality are, in short, the inspiring principles of the company, today also a reference point for a great national wine project called Bertani Domains.
