Ribera del Duero DOC Tempranillo Roble 2018 - Bodegas Protos

Color: Bright ruby red with violet reflections.
Smell: The nose expresses intensity with a note of ripe red and black fruits, spicy and toasted notes.
Taste: On the palate it is balanced, structured, fresco with fine tannins and good persistence of aromas.
Food pairing: Perfect for dishes based on roasted red meat and sauce, first courses, game and cheeses.

Production areas: Burgos and Valladolid.
Vineyard age: 25 years.
Harvest: Manual.
Vinification: Maceration in contact with cold skin and controlled fermentation in stainless steel.
Aging: 6 months in French and American barrels. 6 months in bottle.

Bodegas Protos

The company's mission since 1927 has been to be nourished by the motto "be first", as the focus of constant improvement with the aim of improving the wine. These visionaries knew the attention to listen to the "terroir" and understand the needs, imagining a successful effort, which not only has been kept intact, but continues to grow, always looking to the future. The beginnings are important, because the pillars on which they have been involved must be coherent: quality as the top priority and the brand as a sustainable competitive advantage. The proof of this importance comes from our first vintages (1927 and 1928), which won the gold medals at the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1929. In 1970 the construction of an old cellar in the heart of the mountain which houses the Peñafiel Castle, to age our barrels in over 2 km of underground tunnels. Give Protos its distinctive taste and success. Protos authorizes the use of its "Ribera Duero" brand for the foundation of the name. In 1986 a cellar was installed in Anguix (Burgos), built from old high quality vineyards. Therefore, allowing shorter follow times from the vineyard to this winery. In 2006 Bodegas Protos builds a cellar in Rueda to make Protos Verdejo, in the heart of the most important white wine appellation in Spain. In 2008 Protos, true to its roots and in step with an ever-changing industry, built a new winery evolving in Peñafiel. This magnificent installation was organized by the prestigious architecture firm Rogers Stirk Harbor + Partners (led by the brilliant architect Richard Rogers, Priztker prize in architecture, 2007) in collaboration with Alonso Balaguer and Arquitectos Asociados. By combining the know-how of long history with new technologies that help us continue to produce better and more sustainable wines.
