Vines Primitivo ( %)

Color: purplish red, intense and brilliant, which turns slowly towards orange with aging

Smell: intense, persistent, fine, with ripe red fruits, quite spicy, broad and destined to enrich itself amiably over time.

Taste: dry, warm, soft, fairly tannic, sapid, full-bodied, balanced, intense, persistent, with a pleasantly subtle and elegant final taste, with a pleasant return of spiciness, harmonious, tending to velvety with aging.

Food matches: spicy amatriciana spaghetti, lasagna with ragout and béchamel sauce, Peking duck, braised rabbit.

Main Award: VANITOSO Primitivo Gioia del Colle D.O.C. 1999 Reserve: Diploma of Grand Gold Medal at the 2006 Vinitaly International Competition, still red wines section with at least 6 years of aging.

Vanitoso Primitive Wine of Gioia Del Colle D.O.C. Riserva is the emotion of a wine that already has a crystalline and inviting sound in the glass, bewitches the eye, involves with a large olfactory set, tastes, invites to new sips. It is the most awarded, and loved, of the fine collection of Coppi wines.

Soil type: calcareous and clayey on hilly terrain
Training system: espalier
Yield per plant: from 1 to 4 kg approximately
Planting year: replanted in the 90s, where there was already the vineyard from the beginning of the 1900s
Harvest: in the first half of September, by hand, from grapes of company production with rigorous selection of the bunches in
the vineyard

Vinification: with as much attention the grapes are checked and selected again in the cellar, where they are then crushed and
de-stemmed, sent to wine-makers for alcoholic fermentation on the skins. In this delicate passage, the wine expresses the
substances contained in the skins such as the fruity, polyphenols and tannins, which will help build the aging in the glass.
Each step takes place at a controlled temperature

Aging: in 60 hl oak barrels for 18 months and 225 l carats for 6 months
Annual production: only in excellent vintages, it is decided to produce the Primitive Vanitoso Reserve of Gioia del Colle D.O.C.
and, currently, the vintages 1999, 2001, 2007, 2009 are available and 2015 has already been selected

Coppi

Coppi has always been synonymous with quality, passion and prestige. Casa Vinicola Coppi has been producing wine for over 40 years, but for more than 100 years the family has been devoted to viticulture. Currently it has 100 hectares of vineyards owned in Puglia, between the south-east of Bari and Salento: we are in the cradle of the DOC of the primitive of Gioia del Colle and Negramaro. To this are added another 100 hectares conducted permanently for rent, with meticulous care from the vineyard to the cellar. The Casa Vinicola Coppi, by precise company choice, produces 100% wines from only native vines: Primitivo di Gioia del Colle, Negroamaro, Aleatico, Falanghina, Malvasia Bianca and Malvasia Nera. They are ennobled by an excellent cellar technique, respectful of the grape varieties, both in blends and mono varietals, obtaining authentically Apulian wines and highly appreciated by international palates It is possible to make guided tours of the company and wine tasting in the ancient cellar of 1882. Cantine Coppi are today among the best that can be found in the Apulian and Italian wine production sector, as evidenced by the company awards register, for decades a great success celebrated by wine enthusiasts and experts. Quality of raw materials and technological research are the winning cards of the brand, which combines innovation with tradition. Strict controls follow the production of wines at every stage, from cultivation to crushing, from fermentation to bottling. A period of aging is foreseen for bottled wine in cellars at constant and controlled temperature, while the aging, made in barriques for the DOC line, gives the final product unique organoleptic characteristics. The company has thermoconditioned capacity, where it is possible, with the help of electronics and information technology, to monitor the fermentations of musts and the storage of wines. All production is continuously monitored: a sophisticated analysis system is carried out in the latest generation laboratories to allow and certify with ISO that the final product is perfect in its components.
