Dehours & Fils

The concept of Jérôme Dehours Champagne is very clear. It is an ever-changing work in which all the fundamental stages, from the vineyard to the champagne, through winemaking and aging, have a common denominator: the search for authenticity, the deep respect for nature and the conjunction of elements and unique factors in the world. In the 1930s, grandfather Ludovic was a pioneer among independent vignerons. In the 70s his father, Robert, was a precursor, together with others, of the idea of the quality reserve, a system adopted to preserve a part of an excellent harvest to use it in times of difficulty for bad years. In 1996 Jérôme and her sister reorganized the family domaine and, without claiming particular labels and classifications, had as their objective the enhancement of the terroirs that cultivate naturally and pursuing a design of excellence without concessions. 42 plots in Mareuil-le-Port, Œuilly and Troissy, the left bank of the Marne, 65% of which is planted in Meunier, with a little Chardonnay and very little Pinot Noir. Vineyards that start from the top of the hill and extend up to the plain of the Marne and Flagot valleys where natural ventilation makes grape cultivation ideal. Yields have been reduced and assembly wines are produced as well as some parceled ones. Every year a specific parcel is produced only and exclusively in magnum. Since 1998 the reserve wine has been preserved and aged with the solera system, partly in steel tanks, partly in barriques.
