Domaine Ballot-Millot & Fils

The family-run Ballot-Millot company is located in Meursault where it owns its finest Crus. It also offers one of the best and most "tasty illustrations" of the whole Côte de Beaune: softness and fruitiness in the great white wines of Meursault and Chassagne Montrachet, richness and delicacy in the legendary wines of Pommard, Volnay and Beaune. Since the 17th century, generations have followed one another and work with passion to maintain the corporate entity and increase its reputation. Since 2000 it is Charles Ballot, fifteenth generation of winemakers, who perpetuates this tradition, helped by his father Philippe. Very close to nature, Charles has returned to the old methods of traditional agriculture. For 10 years the vineyards have been plowed (chemical herbicides are totally excluded). As for the treatments, they are homeopathic and analyzed. In the future forecast, organic cultivation is seriously considered. The vine is pruned with great rigor, the picking is very severe, Charles favors rather the control of the yields during the spring instead of the thinning of the bunches in the autumn. The harvest takes place manually in all the vineyards of the company, it is strictly supervised, the mission of everyone is to control their own harvest. Tradition and modernity, two keywords of winemaking that live in perfect harmony to ensure optimal quality in every vintage. In fact, the gestures have remained such for generations, respecting the terroir, of the soils, which create the wealth of these denominations. Gestures completed by more modern techniques and materials, which guarantee the regularity and quality of the different vintages.
