Domaine de Bellene

The Domaine de Bellene was born in 2005, on the proposal of some winemakers, stopping their business, to take advantage of their vines in the form of tenant breeding. The desire to dominate the entire production chain, from the vine to the marketing of wines, from a very high quality perspective has been decisive in the creation of this viticulture operation. It is time to find the real estate structure, acquired in 2006 in rue du Faubourg Saint Nicolas in Beaune, to restore the buildings dedicated to production respecting the "High environmental quality" standards, to expand the existing land by purchasing vines, investing in equipment for high-performance vinification that respects the integrity of the grapes (temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, non-walkable destemmer, vibrating sorting table, sorting conveyor, stainless steel tanks that allow gravity cooking, horizontal pneumatic press, ratchet press vertical, the whole vertical hydraulic press in stainless steel…), 2007 marks the first vinification of the company. The Domaine is located in Beaune in buildings rich in history dating back to the 16th century. The origin of the domain name: "Bellene" derives from the name of the city of Beaune. In the first century of our era, this city was called "Belena" of the sun god "Belenos", then "Beaulne" and, finally, Beaune, which translates our desire to make the domain a reference point for the wines of Beaune . After the purchase of the buildings in 2006 by Nicolas Potel, a long and meticulous period follows. The rehabilitation of the buildings intended for production lasted two years and involved many businesses. Our goal: to comply with HQE (High Environmental Quality) standards in terms of construction, in order to be in line with our philosophy of working with wines. Minimize the environmental impact of renovations to allow us to work in a respectful environment. Some examples: use non-polluting materials, contact local craftsmen, think in terms of energy saving. 13.85 formed the initial plot that extends from Santenay to the villages of Côtes de Nuits with 3 main poles in the denominations Saint-Romain, Beaune and Savigny-Les-Beaune. Driven from the beginning in organic agriculture, we have always tried to work the vines in respect of the terroir so that the grapes are of the highest quality, both sanitary and phenological.
