Grillo is an ancient Sicilian native grape, but it is also a nice lucky animal. The name sur sur, which means cricket, derives from the classical Arabic language, once spoken also in Sicily.
The label has the voice of spring, with its scents and colors.
It tells the escapes of Gabriella, a little girl (founder of Donnafugata with her husband Giacomo) who runs barefoot among the flowers and fresh grass,
following the song of the crickets that sounds sweet to his ears like a thousand "SurSur ...".

Donnafugata

Donnafugata was born in Sicily from the initiative of a family that with great passion has been able to revolutionize the style and perception of Sicilian wine in the world. The name Donnafugata refers to the novel by Tomasi di Lampedusa the Leopard. A name that means "woman on the run" and refers to the story of a queen who found refuge in that part of Sicily where the company vineyards are located today. A story that inspired the company logo: the image of a woman's head with her hair blowing in the wind that stands out on each bottle. The Rallo family back in 1851 entered the world of wine in Sicily in the wake of British entrepreneurs In 1983 Giacomo and Gabriella donfano Donnafugata, a name that communicates with art. A new style for Sicilian wines In 1990 Giacomo and Gabriella were joined by their sons José and Antonio and the company increasingly sought pleasure, elegance and longevity in the wines.
