In 2009, during university studies, Giovanni, Stefano, Malcom and Federico start producing Classic Method sparkling wine. Some of them had known each other since childhood, but friendship was consolidated during high school. They have been classmates and have shared many professional experiences both at home, in Trentino and abroad. When they started, none of them still imagined to start such an ambitious project as the current one. In the beginning they simply wanted to experience firsthand what we had studied, spend time together and have a few bottles of Classic Method to offer to their friends and relatives for graduation celebrations. In the third year of production, they decided to enhance our project: the result obtained seemed excellent, they were very passionate and willingly worked together. And so Etyssa was born. With the 2012 vintage they managed to bottle the first 3466 bottles. They love their own territory, which for its soil and climate characteristics is unquestionably suited to the production of the Classic Method and the name is proof of this: Etyssa derives in fact from Etisa, the name in ancient German of the Adige, a river that contributed to the formation of the orography and climatic conditions suitable for the production of high quality Classic Method. The vineyards are located in the municipality of Trento, on the slopes of Monte Calisio (1,097m a.s.l.), at 500m a.s.l., between the localities of Mojà, Tavernaro and Villamontagna. The company is located in the heart of the Trentodoc production area, where the Mediterranean climate meets fresh Alpine currents. The vegetative period is characterized by strong temperature changes between day and night thanks to the upward currents of the surrounding mountains. During the hottest hours, the work in the vineyard is cheered by the presence of Ora del Garda, the wind that develops from the lake of the same name. Particular and interesting is the soil on which their vineyards grow: dolomitic of glacial origin with a prevalent, deep, fresh and well-drained skeleton. The coexistence of these conditions generates an ideal environment for the production of grapes intended for second fermentation.
