L'Astore
The vine-wine tradition dates back to the 1940s, a period in which, conforming to the criteria of the time, wine was produced in large quantities to be sold "in tanks". At the end of the 1990s, a project was launched which aimed to produce quality wines. After a costly preparation of the soil with careful analysis of the geological characteristics, excavations, pressing and grinding, about 20 hectares of vineyards of the cultivars were planted: Negroamaro, Aglianico, Primitivo, Montepulciano, Malvasia Bianca, Susumaniello; over the years a search has been started for autochthonous varieties now extinct which has led to new experimental systems and a real ampelographic collection of Salento. Next to the underground olive oil mill, a barrel was built to refine the wines, according to the architectural tradition of Salento with barrel and star vaults using local materials such as Lecce stone and carparo obtaining, according to many Italian and foreign visitors, a real and proper "cathedral of wine". Today Masseria L’Astore lives again in all its beauty to welcome guests with very varied needs. This historic building renovated with great attention and respect for its original features, has a large open space, perfect for receptions in style during the summer. During the rest of the year, on the other hand, you will have a wonderful eighteenth-century room, where in the past there was an oil mill, which will give your event an evocative and welcoming atmosphere that can frame your special moments.
