Marcel Deiss

Located in Bergheim, in the heart of Alsace, the domaine was founded by Marcel Deiss who, after the end of the Second World War, abandoned the profession of arms and started the company. Managed today by his nephew Jean Michel, it has 30 hectares divided into 9 municipalities and spread over 20 km of vineyards. At the base of all the terroir: the vineyard is cultivated according to ancient techniques, without herbicides, nor chemical fertilizers, being the vine planted as if it were an underground plant, which grows in pain in the heart of each territory. The terroir wines bear this sign, the evident trace of this vocation to tell the landscape: they are wines that testify to the return to true Alsatian tradition. While proposing a small battery of "traditional Alsatian" wines in the Vins de Fruits and in the Vins de Temps, the "protagonist" is the "complantation", an essential philosophy for Jean Michel Deiss. The grapes are harvested at the same time and vinified together from vines planted in the same vineyard, ensuring that there is a natural "compensation" between the various levels of maturity. All this is the result of the great work in the vineyard and enhances the "terroir" in all its smallest nuances, consecrating Deiss among the best vigneron in France.
