Color: Intense golden yellow with amber reflections, slightly veiled.
Smell: The nose is rich and complex with notes of apricot, peach and citrus fruits, notes of beeswax and spicy touches of ginger and pepper.
Taste: On the palate it is fresh, slightly tannic, balanced, mineral and of excellent persistence with fruity and citrus aromas.
Food pairing: Perfect for fish and shellfish dishes, white meats, mushroom and cheese dishes.
Amforéas is Trebbiano in purity, coming from a 40-year-old vineyard.
The processing is completely artisanal: the grapes, harvested by hand in small boxes, are left to macerate in an amphora for 2 long months.
The result is a wine with a great personality, with fine and persistent tannins and an intense and enveloping aromatic profile.
Bottles produced: 407, numbered by hand.
Vinification: Macerated for 2 months in rough terracotta amphora. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts.
Aging: Amphora, steel, bottle. Not clarified, unfiltered.
Marco Ludovico
Marco Ludovico belongs to a family of winemakers for 3 generations. His father, Giangiuseppe Ludovico, in 2003 founded Masseria Ludovico. It was the passion for the world of wine that led him to undertake viticulture and oenology studies at the faculty of Udine, where he graduated in February 2012. fter various work experiences in Italy (Manduria, Naples, Montalcino), Argentina (Mendoza) and New Zealand (Blenheim) decided to settle permanently in the family business The work in the cellar and in the vineyard allowed him to grow both from a human and professional point of view, but, despite this, the desire to produce a different wine without rules matured in him month after month and year after year , able to fully reflect his personality. After a thousand doubts and hesitations, he gave birth to the project "Marco Ludovico - Enoartigiano in Terra delle Gravine" in order to express his idea of territorial and artisan wine without filters. At the base of the production, Marco Ludovico has always put in the first place an artisan choice: the grapes, coming from vineyards not weeded and not chemically fertilized, are rigorously harvested in 15 kg perforated boxes at the first light of dawn; fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and the wine is neither clarified nor filtered; all the wines are personally followed during the refinements with analysis and weekly tastings; moreover they are sulphited in a very light way (maximum total sulfur level at bottling: 60 mg / l). The 5 wines are all produced in limited quantities (from a minimum of 400 to a maximum of 1600 bottles per type), with labels applied and numbered by hand. Marco Ludovico's concept is summed up in wines that can express the producer himself, without compromise, a "personal" wine. "Territory" is one of the most used (and abused) words in the world of wine, often used in impressive advertising campaigns conducted by large companies that produce hundreds of different types of wines, limiting themselves to satisfy the tastes of the consumer. The territorial wine concept of the Ludovico company aims at authenticity: the wine in the glass must respect what the territory gives to the vineyard, without artifacts. The Terra delle Gravine is in fact a limestone land, where the presence of the wind is constant and where there are strong temperature variations; consequently the wines produced here, in order to be defined territorial, must reflect the elements of this wonderful territory: minerality, freshness and elegance. The choice of packaging is also completely personal: made with 100% natural paper (Cotton) and designed by the award-winning Mario Di Paolo, who gives voice to Ludovico's philosophy on the world of winemaking: the five human faces with leaves represent the symbiotic relationship between man and nature, from the vineyard to the bottle. A symbol that does not want to be only a praise to nature in itself, because this without the wise and non-invasive intervention of man could not communicate the wealth that a territory can offer. It was chosen to use a synthetic stopper and to exclude cork from all production lines. The choice was dictated by various reasons, primarily to avoid the release of unwanted substances from cork. The synthetic stopper is also easily recyclable. For the bottle it was decided for a tall and slender burgundy that conveys the idea of a direct, non-muscular and easy-drinking wine.
