Spano is produced exclusively in the most favorable years in the vineyards of the municipality of Sannicola and is the result
of the desire to create a "Great Red" from our wonderful land, of extraordinary strength and complexity, with remarkable
intensity and unmistakable typical characteristics.

• ORIGIN GRAPES: They are historical in the municipality of Sannicola, all grown with the traditional sapling system:
100% Negroamaro.

• TYPE OF SOIL: Mixed red sand soil of medium texture.
• HARVEST PERIOD: Late September / early October (with slight drying on the plant).
VINIFICATION: It is the traditional one, with long maceration of the grapes and racking with considerable intensity of colors
and scents. Once the harvest operations are over, the initial aging takes place partly in 50% stainless steel and the remainder
in small barrels of fine oak for about months. Then, at the right time, assembly takes place. After a period of rest, it is bottled
and put on sale after a year of aging. "Spano" is produced exclusively "in the most favorable years". The years previously
marketed were: 1986, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2007. The "Spano" is obtained from the combination of
experience and desire to create a "Great" Red Wine from our Land with the its unmistakable typical characteristics. He wants
to be included among the great Reds, not only from Salento. Of extraordinary strength and complexity. Long aging. Average production 8,500 bottles.

Tuglie, land where our fathers taught us to shape these grapes, where great wines are born in the vineyards cared for and protected by courageous and hardworking hands capable of pruning vines, selecting grapes and accompanying only the most beautiful bunches in the cellar, it is the lung and the fulcrum in which our energies take shape, is the center where the Michele Calò e Figli Winery, since 1954, has its productive heart. Our vineyards, located in the most favorable areas of the municipalities of Tuglie, Alezio, Parabita and Sannicola, are soils with different characteristics but which give the wines incredibly varied nuances giving precious grapes that are carefully selected and "softly" pressed. The passion dedicated together with the love lavished in this ancient and yet so modern craft is immense. A job that must know how to combine the best traditions with new knowledge, be able to put together different vines by expertly calibrating them, so as to obtain a perfect product in terms of flavor, color and perfume.
