Nicola Gatta

Nicola Gatta produces Classic Method Sparkling Wines in the easternmost area of ​​Franciacorta, on the hills of Gussago; located at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, these soils differ from the rest of Franciacorta by virtue of the limestone soil compared to the others in the area of ​​morainic origin, therefore younger. The terroir of Gussago therefore gives great minerality and structure to the Gatta sparkling wines. In the vineyard the principles of biodynamic agriculture are followed and in the cellar it is vinified exclusively with spontaneous fermentations, without filtration or clarification and no addition of sulfur dioxide; The interpretative will of the territory has led Gatta not to join the Franciacorta consortium: in this way we intend to let the terroir speak in wines without altering its nature. The company cultivates about 6 hectares of vineyards with plants aged between 25 and 35 years, more than half in Chardonnay and the rest in Pinot Noir. The main strength of Gatta wines is the finesse of the bubbles, elegant and classy, ​​as well as placing these labels in an excellent quality / price range, for local wines, but also easy to drink. Characteristic of all its products is the long stay on the lees which, referring to biodynamic cultivation, is indicated in moons, from 30 to 90 moons, that is, the months spent on the lees.
