Piper-Heidsieck is one of the largest champagne houses in the world based in Reims, in the Champagne-Ardenne region. Founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, from 1838 he added the surname Piper to Heidsieck by the cousin of the founder, Henri-Guillaume Piper, who followed him together with Christian Heidsieck in the running of the house. At the end of the 1980s the house was acquired by the large group Rémy Cointreau and since 2011 the two main brands, Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck, are owned by the Européenne de Participation Industrielle (EPI) group led by Christopher Descours. Piper-Heidsieck uses all three varieties of grape varieties allowed for champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in various proportions according to the various products.
