Tenuta Castello di Grumello

Tenuta Tenuta Castello di Grumello is located in the heart of the Bergamo hills of Valcalepio, between Bergamo and Lake Iseo. It is a winery of about 37 hectares, of which 20 with specialized vineyards, all located on the hill called "Colle del Calvario". The soil is clayey, on a limestone base and the hill benefits from a microclimate particularly suitable for the cultivation of fine vines. The company is now run by the third generation of the Reschigna Kettlitz family from Milan, who acquired ownership of it in 1953. After the courageous approach of his grandfather Giovanni and the persevering work of innovation of his father Enrico, with the aim of achieving ever better quality, his daughter Cristina Kettlitz has now taken the baton, with renewed energy and dynamism. Continuity also on the technical front, as the winemaker Carlo Zadra always signs the wines of the company and is accompanied by some vintages from his son Paolo, who followed in his footsteps by graduating in oenology at the Institute of San Michele all'Adige. The company focuses heavily on the quality and authenticity of its wines. For this reason, it pays close attention to environmental aspects and to the balance of soil fertility, intervening for fertilization only with products based on organic substances, to favor the harmonious development of the plant and grapes. In the medieval cellars modern fermentation systems in stainless steel coexist with traditional presses, Slavonian oak barrels and carats, and the renovation of the entire bottling and labeling plant has just been completed to better meet the needs of a more and more quality.
