Food pairing: Excellent for first courses with meat-rich sauces, second courses based on red meats and game, roasts, aged cheeses and intense cold cuts.
A territory, a vine: Nerello Mascalese and Etna, a combination of excellence that in Torre Mora is called Scalunera.
The name derives from the typical terraces where the sapling vineyards are grown, reminiscent of the black stairways.

Torre Mora
The Etna area is an exceptional place, especially as regards the production of wine. This territory is distinguished by some unique characteristics which, when combined, generate a complex microclimate: a highly fertile volcanic soil, located at an altitude of 650-700 m asl, and a high temperature range between night and day. . Torre Mora's philosophy is a vine, a land. The perfect combination of Nerello Mascalese and Etna is a source of inspiration for us, who passionately make wines that tell, with every sip, the story of a grape that thrives on the slopes of an active volcano. The two Torre Mora vineyards are located in Rovittello, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia and in Contrada Torre, in the municipality of Linguaglossa. The main grape is Nerello Mascalese, followed by Nerello Cappuccio. The age of the vines varies between 12 and 15 years. Because of the steep terrain on which the vineyards are located. The training systems are the spurred cordon in the small flat areas and the sapling on the terraces. The soil, purely volcanic and characterized by an acid pH, is very fertile. Despite the low depth (30-40 cm deep before reaching the basalt layer), the soil is extraordinarily mineral and rich in traces and microelements brought by volcanic eruptions.
