Vigne Monache

The Vegne Monache company uses only grapes from renowned vineyards mainly native to its wines, coming from the vineyards owned by the Nigro family. The grapes, selected and harvested strictly by hand, are processed and transformed into wine directly and exclusively in the winery's cellar through the use of modern winemaking techniques and cutting-edge equipment. The wines are therefore given all the time they need until aging in steel and bottling, in the constant search for absolute quality. For two generations the Nigro family has been cultivating their vineyards, which extend for about eight hectares in the fertile area of ​​the Manduria countryside, in the province of Taranto, called "Monache-Paduli". Anchoring itself firmly to the family agricultural tradition and to the wine-growing vocation of the area, home of great Salento wines, the family-run VINEYARDS NUNS harmonises past and present, tradition and innovation. In fact, it arises from the strong need to give a decisive impulse to family activity, which over the years has experienced a phase of constant and considerable increase thanks to the dedication to work of the whole family. This need has materialized in the company renewal and in the private cellar plant that have given the business the wine-growing address. The fertility of the soil, the healthiness of the climate, the goodness of the cultivation techniques and the processing, the ancient and ever new passion of the Nigro family for viticulture confer value and quality on the wine production of the Vigne Monache company. Among its wines, "Cottabo", "Assiade", "Reis", "Anima Rosa", "SerVite" is a tribute to the history of the territory, in particular to the nuns served at the monastery of the Holy Spirit of Manduria, eponymous of the contrda as well as the company; it is a praise of the Vine, a plant that for countless centuries has inebriated men and gods with its nectar, and finally an invitation, to guarantee quality, to serve and enjoy the precious drink.
